=_=
Inciting Incident: In a earlier game where Bob's team and Billy's team face off, Bob strikes out awfully against Billy for the final out. After that game, Billy constantly insults and humiliates Bob.
Rising Action: There are two outs in the last inning of a tie game with runners on second and third base. Billy shouts insults at Bob while Bob is striding up to the plate. Billy's insults trigger a chain reaction and the crowd starts to make fun of Bob's oversized head.
Climax: There is a legendary at-bat and the count is full. Billy throws a good pitch and Bob hits a sharp line drive right back at Billy.
Resolution: The ball hits billy square in the dome piece. Billy lays on the pitcher's mound with a huge bump swelling on his forehead as Bob's team wins the game.
Denouement: Billy loses his reputation and people begin to call him fathead.
This looks hilarious and I can not wait to read it

ReplyDeleteHi Robert,
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the irony in this story, and it is also a nice combination of the underdog and revenge plots. I have one really important question: exactly how big is Bob's head? I'm asking because if it is absurdly big/comically big and totally disproportionate to his body, then your story is entering the realm of fantasy (or at least artful exaggeration), which I think is adds a cool, surreal tone to the piece. If his head is just big, but still within the realm of human possibility, that's ok, too, but I think you definitely need a few good lines about the head. :-)
P.S.: I don't know if this was intentional, but "big head" is also a synonym for big ego, so it is fitting that the person with the biggest ego ends up with a swelled head in the end. Good work!
Ms. Mason
